National Academy of Engineering: Catia Bastioli recognized for championing in bioplastics and Circular Economy

On 11 February 2025, the National Academy of Engineering (NAE) has elected 128 new members and 22 international members to its prestigious Class of 2025. Among them is Catia Bastioli, CEO of Novamont - a Versalis (Eni) company - recognised for her work in industrial bioplastics and for championing the circular bioeconomy.

Election to the National Academy of Engineering (NAE) is one of the highest professional distinctions in engineering, reserved for individuals who have made exceptional contributions to the field. Membership acknowledges outstanding achievements in engineering practice, research, education, pioneering innovations, and leadership in major engineering endeavors. NAE members include the world’s most accomplished engineers from industry, academia, and government. Among them, there are five Italians, and in 2025, the only Italian elected is Catia Bastioli. 

Founded in 1964, the NAE provides independent expertise and strategic insights to address complex engineering issues worldwide. The official induction ceremony will take place on 5 October 2025 during the NAE's annual meeting.
